Marco De Camillis was born in Rome in 1966 and took up classes in Modern Dance and Ballet in 1980.

In 1983, he gained admission to the National Ballet Academy in Italy, after which he completed his training in Los Angeles, at the Debbie Reynolds and Joe Tremaine dance schools. During his stay in Los Angeles, he also participated in a workshop directed by Michael Peters, a choreographer well known for his work with Michael Jackson.

Marco became a professional dancer in 1984, and took the first steps in his successful career on numerous TV programs, both in Italy and Spain, where he became assistant choreographer to presenter, dancer and singer Rafaella Carrà.

His career as a choreographer gradually expanded to several European countries, including Italy, Spain, and Portugal, with notably successful results.

In television, Marco lent his talents to innumerable programs, amongst which the finals of the “Mister World” championship and the “Top Model Of The World” contest, four seasons of “Chuva de Estrelas” (the Portuguese “Stars in Their Eyes”), several “Globos de Ouro” Galas, “Furor”, “Pop Star”, “Passa a Palavra”, as well as various “Miss World Portugal”, “Miss Portugal”, and “Portugal Fashion” contests.

In seasons 1 and 2 of “Operação Triunfo” (the Portuguese “Fame Academy”), the producers invited Marco to take on not one, but two roles. As well as Choreographer, he also accepted the prestigious post of resident Dance Teacher, and subsequently toured Spain and Portugal with the participants in the program.

In 2003, Marco returned to Italy to choreograph “Miss World Italy”, and continued his work by choreographing the performance of the Portuguese contestants in the European Song Contest of 2004 (Turkey) and 2005 (Ukraine).

His work for the 2004 European Football Championship ceremonies and attending productions brought him international recognition.

Meanwhile, his involvement in the popular “In Love” and “Kiss Kiss” musicals (both featuring the popular Portuguese actor Fernando Mendes) brought him to the limelight as a choreographer and stage director. Marco expanded his creative horizons by co-writing “Kiss Kiss”.

His work in the field of advertising has featured in major campaigns for such companies as Galp, TMN, Optimus, Telepac, and Santal. Marco is particularly proud of his 2001 work as director of the ad “Consciência” for the anti-AIDS campaign.

Additionally, Marco has choreographed and produced various projects, such as the new Bulldog English site, multimedia artist Wanda Stuart’s show, and various conventions for Levi’s Jeans.

Most recently, De Camillis took up with success, the role of choreographer and as a distinguished resident jury in the prime-time TV-show "Dança Comigo" ("Strictly Come Dancing") on RTP1, where all through its various editions he has choreographed the performances of several public figures of the Portuguese society, discovering true talents, such as Sónia Araújo or Raquel Tavares.

In June 2007, De Camillis premières the GELOSIA show in Lisbon that he himself created. During its 3 nights-performances at Lisbon's São Jorge Theater, the show sold out the room of more than 700 seats and gathered enormous praise amongst critics and audience.

On this very year, Marco returns to television with another successful edition of the hit show "Operação Triunfo" (the Portuguese "Fame Academy"). While he continued his work in the hit show "Dança Comigo" that had a new edition in 2008, Marco De Camillis played an undeniable role in promoting Portugal's names and talents abroad. He was behind the dancers routines who represented Portugal in the "Festival Eurovisão de Dança" ("Eurovision Dance Contest"), whose performances, more exactly Sónia Araújo’s in 2007 and Raquel Tavares’ in 2008 were highly praised.

Also in 2008 Marco returns to television with a new and refreshing format for a dance show called "Olha Quem Dança" ("Your Mamma Can’t Dance"), where once again he is the choreographer and judge of the show; in addition to this, he was also the choreographer of the group of dancers from the show "A Minha Geração", an original format presented by the charismatic Catarina Furtado. De Camillis was also responsible for the routines of the dancers at the "Festival da Canção Portuguesa", not only in its 2008 edition but also in the forth coming year.

Parallel to Marco’s activities in television, he got involved in theatre productions such as the Portuguese musical comedy "Piratada à Portuguesa", with Marina Mota and two famous adaptations of the worldwide famous Musicals "Cabaret" and "The Producers" (In Portuguese "Os Produtores").

In 2009, Marco De Camillis is invited to work again in Spain where he is in charge of the choreography of the show "Come Fly With Me" on stage in the Palma de Mallorca's Casino next June. At the same time, the choreographer prepares his return to RTP 1 with a new kind of a dance show intended for the younger people, which promise new and surprising talents.
